Case Study: Microsoft – Holiday Party
Scenario: Microsoft staff is planning a holiday party. Because of the ethnic backgrounds and the diversity of the employees, the holiday party cannot focus on Christmas traditions. The planning committee is struggling with how to have a holiday party without offending multicultural employees, but create an atmosphere that is festive.
Goal: Locate holiday entertainment that transcends ethnic lines for a multicultural office and is suitable for an international audience.
Conclusion: Microsoft planning committee selected Dale Obrochta for his creativity and ability to adapt to each child’s requirements. Dale focused on the season, i.e., penguins, snowmen, and polar bears to bridge the gap between religious and traditional characters associated with the holiday season. This allowed the party atmosphere to maintain a balance between holiday and festive which meets the requirements mandated by the Corporate Headquarters.
